	The Holidays Cantabria Art Centre offers courses this year in June, July and September. Seven days of painting and drawing for beginners to more advanced levels are conducted by a qualified and committed English tutor/artist in an informal way but emphasising learning, pleasure and leisure at the same time. NON PAINTING PARTNERS are welcome at a reduced rate.
Painting excursions and visits to our local artist work shops are a high point in the courses and teaching. The Centre is in a very quiet hamlet, Ruilobuca, one of the five villages of the district of Ruiloba, in the heart of green Spain. This part of rural Spain, is where one can still feel back to simpler days but surrounded by the busy and most beautiful historic cities of the Northern Coast. Comillas, just two miles from the house, full of magnificent buildings like La Universidad de Comillas and El Capricho built by Gaudi. Santillana del Mar, another nearby magnificent historic town with its famous Cuevas de Altamira and famous buildings. The chic and elegant city of Santander is only about half an hour from the house and of course, Bilbao and its most amazing future, the Guggenheim futuristic Museum is only an hour from the house too.
For walkers and nature’s lovers, this area has the most impressive coast outline within five minutes by car from the Centre and many hills for just a casual stroll or picnic. For those who like more serious mountains walks, Cantabria offers Los Picos de Europa, La Hermida, (a narrow gorge followed by the river deva) and La Ruta del Cares Gorge, ( 25 Kms. go and back in one go!!) a superb mountain of five hours walk. The Centre, an old farmhouse fully restored, is situated on a high point in the village, surrounded by its own fields and gardens in the foothills of Ruiloba’s hills. Ruilobuca offers tranquillity and peaceful countryside for guest and artists looking for something different. We have no shops or restaurants, but in the next village of El Barrio de la Iglesia, only 10 minutes walk away from the house, there two good restaurants, two bars and beautiful buildings and small country lanes walks every where!. Comillas is five minutes by car from the house, has a lively market on Friday, a fantastic beach, many bars, restaurants, supermarkets and lovely and smart shops.
